Who We Are
Our Story
Community Covenant Church is a relatively new church with a long history. Founded in 1873 as a church for Swedish immigrant farmers, we spent our first 130 years serving the farming community of western Osage and northern Lyon counties, seven miles west of Osage City, Kansas.
In 2006, believing that God was calling us to risk everything for the sake of looking for new opportunities to expand God’s kingdom in our community, the church took a leap of faith, left familiar surroundings, and began to worship at Osage City High School. In 2007, we broke ground at our present location and began worshipping here in August 2008.
Today, our ministry is much expanded and we have begun to dream new dreams and serve the community in new and fresh ways. We want to proclaim the always renewing, ever-refreshing Good News of Jesus Christ.
Our Mission
"Embracing the Transformation toward Christ-likeness through the unconditional Love of God. "
Our Beliefs
We are a part of the Evangelical Covenant Church
We affirm the centrality of the word of God. - The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are our source of instruction, faith, and life.
We affirm the necessity of the new birth. - That all people would come to believe in Jesus in a personal and passionate way.
We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the Church. - Telling people about Jesus, living like Jesus, and helping his Kingdom be realized in the here and now.
We affirm the Church as a fellowship of believers. - Gathering formally and informally, because we are better together.
We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit. - Guided by God who strengthens us, encourages us, and challenges every aspect of our lives.
We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ. - United in the essentials, we can faithfully disagree and dialogue on lesser tenets of Christianity without division.

Our Leadership
Lead Pastor
Austin Penn
Austin has a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and has been involved in a variety of ministries since 2013. Austin and his wife Stevie sensed a calling to move closer to family and back to Kansas in the May of 2021 when they landed here in Osage City. Since then, their family has grown with the addition of their son Oliver. Their house is warm, inviting, and full of dog hair from their two rescue dogs named Kail and Karrot.
Austin has a passion for people to come to know, believe, and live Jesus and his kingdom in the world. Since God called him into ministry at the young age of 14 years old he has been preaching regularly at the churches and colleges he has been involved with. He has a heart for the next generation which is evident in his interaction with children and youth. Austin also plays the guitar and sings. In his free time, he enjoys a nice cup of coffee, a good book, going fishing, and staying active by playing sports.
